When you renew your license online before May 31st at midnight, the Florida Department of Health will review your records in CE Broker. It will be required that all of your requirements be met and your hours are posted in order to renew successfully. So don’t wait until the last minute– complete and report your hours as you go so you don’t fall behind!

We want to give you a quick visual of all of your CE requirements, so you don’t have any surprises when renewing your license. The following chart contains all of the 30 total hours required for Florida Registered Dietitians and Nutrition Counselors.
Your Hours– Broken Down:
28 General Hours are required every biennium. Remember that no more than 20 home study hours can be used per biennium, and no more than 10 hours in risk management, personal growth, management, and educational techniques per biennium.
You are also required to complete 2 hours of Medical Errors every biennium.
Account Options:
If you have a Professional or Concierge Account with CE Broker, you can see whether you have met the requirements listed above in your CE Compliance Transcript. The transcript will automatically calculate your compliance, so you know exactly where you stand before you renew your license. If something is required for completion of that biennium, you will see it listed as required. Once you have completed those hours, it will display as fulfilled. If you have not completed those hours, you will see how many hours are still required for that section.
If you have a Basic Account, you will be able to see your Course History displaying all the courses you have completed and your compliance progress dial. To ensure you are ready for renewal, manually calculate compliance by comparing your Board’s requirements with the courses you have completed.
What If This Is My First Renewal?
According to the Florida Council of Dietetics and Nutrition:
“Dietitians and Nutritionist renewing a license for the first time and were licensed in the first year of the biennium are required to complete 25 general hours, 2 medical errors and 3 HIV/AIDS.”
“Dietitians and Nutritionist renewing a license for the first time and were licensed in the second year of the biennium are required to complete 3 HIV/AIDS and 2 medical errors”
Board Rule Approved Providers
- AMA Liason Committee for Medical Education
- Public Health Service, state or territorial health services, or a branch of the United States Armed Services College courses from an approved graduate or undergraduate program accredited by an accrediting agency approved by the Department of Education
- Courses approved by any Board within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance that relates to maintaining skills necessary for the safe and competent practice of dietetics and nutrition services
- All other approved courses are listed in the CE Broker Course Search
- Courses offered by or approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Other Methods of Obtaining Continuing Education per Biennium
- Attendance for a minimum of two hours at a public meeting of the Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council
- Serve as an expert witness
- A lecture or author presenting or authoring for the initial presentation of a Board approved CE Program.
