Should I Get the CE Broker Free Trial?

The Free Trial offer creates a temporary full access account for healthcare professionals in the CE Broker continuing education system.  With the Free Trial account, you can view the same records that the Florida Department of Health uses when it conducts its audits.  If you are not certain which continuing education credits you still have not yet fulfilled and your license expiration deadline is approaching, the Free Trial can give you the information that you need to become compliant.  The transcript displayed in your account is configured specially for you with respect to your profession, your specialties, and the number of license cycles that you have already completed.  The Free Trial is a one-time offer.

To start your own Free Trial, go to CEBroker.com and click “Get Started” on the homepage.  Then you’ll select your region, enter your license number, and complete the setup process.

CE Broker requires that you enter a valid credit card in order to set up your Free Trial but it will NOT be charged until the day after the Free Trial ends.  You have seven days to cancel the trial and you will receive an email reminding you to cancel if you are not satisfied with the service.  You can cancel the Free Trial from within your account or call the Helpdesk at 1-877-434-6323.

CE Broker gives you the tools you need to stay on top of your continuing education.  The DOH audit can be a painful process and is often accompanied with punitive fees and extra CE requirements.  We do not want this to happen to you and the Free Trial is the perfect first step in avoiding disciplinary action.  Visit CEBroker.com for more info

The History of CE Broker

CE Broker is a continuing education system that was designed by Information Systems of Florida, Inc. (ISF).  CE Broker was developed in 2003 and has been the official tracking database for the Florida Department of Health (DOH) since January 1st, 2004 in accordance with Florida Statute 456.025(7).  Both the Florida Department of Health and the DC Board of Nursing have implemented CE Broker as their official license tracking system.

In 2003 the Florida DOH, Division of Medical Quality Assurance, put out a Request for Proposal for a Continuing Education Tracking System.  The Request for Proposal was offered as a no cost contract.  The Vendor that wins the contract would maintain a database that brings the DOH, educational providers, and licensed healthcare professionals into one location.  The DOH would receive all fees from educational providers who would like to offer courses to licensees, and the Vendor would power an official course search that connects licensees with the approved educational providers.  The Vendor would not receive any funding from the DOH to either develop the software nor to power and maintain the servers for the CE system.  The Vendor would have to create a business plan that would meet all of the DOH’s requirements and allow the company to fund itself.

ISF responded with a unique business plan that would meet all of the DOH’s demands, not requiring any tax payer funding.  The plan included a voluntary subscription offer to healthcare professionals in Florida that would give licensees access to the DOH’s CE tracking information.  Licensees can use the course search and upload continuing education credits for free but would have to subscribe to benefit from the CE management system.  The proposal met the requirements for the no-cost contract and CE Broker was born.

Steps to Continuing Education Compliance

As a licensed healthcare professional in Florida, you are required to complete continuing education requirements specific to your profession and specialties.  Failure to do so can result in audit, fines, and unneeded stress, but it does not have to be that way.

CE Broker simplifies the continuing education process so you can get on with your life and focus on the things that matter most to you.  Follow these steps and you can avoid the risk of punitive action from the Florida Dept of Health for non-compliance.

1.   Subscribe to CE Broker

Go to cebroker.com, click “Healthcare Professional”, and select your location.  Enter your license number, click “continue”, and proceed through the sign-up process.  Your subscription grants you permanent access to your continuing education records for the current license cycle.

Please note that your subscription pays for access to one license cycle and it is necessary to renew your subscription when you enter a new cycle if you would like access to your new records.  Your account will not automatically be renewed as CE Broker does not save any credit card information.

**Note: If you have never subscribed to CE Broker before, you may sign up for a 7-day free trial before subscribing.

2.  View Your Official Transcript

Once you log in, you will want to view your official transcript.  Select “My Records” across the top banner and click “Transcript” from the pull down menu.  You may have access to multiple license cycles and can access past records from the pull down menu in the top right of your transcript.  Most importantly, however, your expiration date and requirements are listed clearly on this page.  Your transcript displays what is required, what is met, and what is still outstanding.  Getting an early start to fulfilling your requirements is the optimal way to ensure compliance before your license cycle ends.

3.  Report Continuing Education Credits

If you have already completed courses during this license cycle but they do not appear on your transcript, there are a couple of possible explanations.  You may be able to self report your completed courses.  For more information, click here.

4.  Use Official Course Search

For any unmet requirements, you can search for approved coursess through the CE Broker course search.  Any course which you find via this course search will automatically be reported to CE Broker upon completion.  (The DOH allows up to 90 days for providers to report courses).  Either click “Complete Click” at the bottom of your transcript to view courses that will meet your outstanding requirements or click “Search” across the top banner and select “Course Search” from the drop down menu.

It is important that you pay attention to the specifications provided in your transcript for valid CE courses.  Often you will be required to take a certain number of classes live versus online.

5.  Complete Courses

So long as you take courses from approved providers found in the CE Broker course search, the courses will be reported automatically by the provider.  You will receive an e-mail and a message in the CE Broker message box every time a new course completion has been reported.

6.  Audit Shield

Once you have met your continuing education requirements, “Yes, Compliant” will display on your transcript.  If you are then selected at random by the Department of Health for audit, CE Broker will protect you and you will not receive an audit letter!

Requirements can differ for each person, and every year the DOH levies fines against experienced healthcare professionals for non-compliance.  Please, do not let this happen to you.  Subscribe early in the cycle, follow these simple steps, and become compliant.
