Common Pharmacy questions for license renewal

Pharmacy - common questions

We get it. License renewal can be confusing. It happens every two years and by the time the next renewal comes around, you’ve forgotten exactly what is required. Or perhaps the requirements have changed. Either way, it’s tough to keep up with everything on top of keeping a full time job and also living your life.

That’s why we’re here. We have many tools for you to utilize…

Our CE Experts got together and discussed the most common questions they have been receiving from Pharmacists during this renewal month. We’ll go over both of them in this blog and hopefully you will have a better understanding of how your requirements work.

Common Question 1: “how do I get courses to CE Broker from NABP?”

In order to record your courses you have completed with the NABP, you will have to self-report those. It’s a very simple process though! Simply log in to your account and select “Report CE Hours.”

Report CE Hours

Then you will select to self report using the category, “Report multiple LIVE courses using NABP activity transcript” or “Report multiple SELF STUDY course using NABP activity transcript” to bulk report all missing courses.

NABP

Once you finish the reporting process, you will see that those hours are recorded in your Course History.

Common Question 2: “What am I missing?”

Whenever the CE Experts are asked this question, very often it is because someone has not completed the medication errors course from Board approved provider. It could be that they completed the course through an ACPE approved provider. Here’s the deal. The Board of Pharmacy recognizes national accreditation from ACPE for most courses (your general hours). But specifically for Medication Errors, the board requires the courses to be approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. A course that is only ACPE approved would not satisfy your medication errors requirement

The easiest way to find Florida Board approved providers is to use the CE Broker course search. All providers listed in our course search are board approved and the course will fulfill your requirement. Don’t stress if you have completed an ACPE course and still need to find an approved medication errors course. This requirement does not have to be live and you can complete it online!

Keep in mind that standard renewals require that 10 of your hours must be live. You can search for “live”hours in the course search.

We hope this helps you! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our CE Experts M-F 8-8 (EST) toll free at 877-434-6323.

Color Therapy for Massage Therapists

Untitled Infographic (2)

Hey Massage Therapists, how about some fun and useful information amidst all this license renewal info? We have been communicating with you how important it is to renew your license (before midnight on August 31st. Don’t forget!!). Since you do so much to heal others physically & energetically, it could be easy for to forget about yourself and your business environment.

The first thing clients notice when they come for a massage is the space they enter. The colors they are greeted with communicate & evoke different emotions on the subconscious level. What can you do to create a safe, cozy space for your client?

Utilizing specific colors in your massage room is a great place to start. Ancient cultures have used color as a healing method (called chromotherapy). For example, according to the Science of Peoplewe have a repository of information about a color. The color blue is almost always associated with blue skies, which when we are children is a positive thing — it means playing outside and fun. Evolutionarily it also means there are no storms to come. This is why it is reminds us of stability and calm.” Read over the color guides (provided by Massage Therapy Works) below to help you determine which color will set the mood that you desire.

  • Redis the most emotionally intense color. Red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent.
  • Pink – is the most romantic color and is often more tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.
  • Blue – is peaceful and relaxing. Blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. People are more productive in blue rooms.
  • Green – symbolizes nature & growth and is a calming, refreshing color. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients.
  • Yellow –  is a cheerful attention getter. Yellow enhances concentration and also speeds up metabolism. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused.
  • Purple – is the color of royalty and it connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare in nature, purple can appear artificial.
  • Brown – is a solid, reliable color and is abundant in nature.Brown can also be sad and wistful. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather.

Now that you are more familiar with how you can use color to create your space of healing, see how you can use that knowledge to decorate with these tips from AtPeaceMedia.

If this is your first license renewal, you are required to complete a 2 hour Medical Error course. You will also need 1 hour of General CE for every month that you’ve held the license. The one hour per month is not literal. You are required to have a total of 1 hour per month. For example, if licensed for 12 months, you will need 12 total hours, which must include two hours in the prevention of medical errors.

No specific subject area is required for the first renewal of a Florida Massage Therapy license, but all must be taken with approved providers. To find approved providers, you can use our Course Search (educational providers are required to report completed CE for you). Or you can read our blog listing some of the top educational providers among Massage Therapists. Read that HERE.
